Thresholds

These paintings emerged from a subconscious place. Often wrestling with personal and often painful transformations, these images represent thresholds of the old version of self and the new version, trying to burst through. Snapshots of pivotal, defining moments... coded in abstract forms, wings, bursts of light, and mirrored selves.

The moment I knew what I had to do, even though I knew it would be difficult. The moment I realized I’d made a terrible mistake. All the moments I fell in love, let go of everything else and took flight. And all the moments when I resisted love and closeness. 

We all share moments like these—uncooked human experiences and feelings that effect us deeply, while at the same time shaping the roads we take.

For me, these are meditative works. Most of them arrive almost on their own, in urgency and surrender. Others are born of a war between myself and what I want to see... and what is truly there.
"Thresholds" is a collection that I started in 2019 and continue to add to. New works are on the horizon.
