Thresholds

Battling with themes of transformation, this collection represents thresholds between the self that was, and the self that fights to break through. Snapshots of pivotal, defining moments... coded in abstract forms, wings, bursts of light, and mirrored selves.

The moment I knew what I had to do, even though I knew it would be difficult. The moment I felt I’d made a terrible mistake. All the moments I fell in love, let go of everything else and took flight. And all the moments when I resisted love and closeness. 

I create these paintings as a chartered, inward journey—through fragmentation, surrender, catharsis, and ultimately elevation. Glimpses into thresholds: points of change where emotion, energy, or identity shifts dramatically.

Outside my figural and representational art, I believe in using art to understand what is not otherwise seen or shared. I use oil paint to understand these turning points—not to resolve them, but to witness them. These are deeply personal works, but built on shared ground. All of us have stood at the edge of something—a decision, a heartbreak, a revelation—and felt the gravity of a moment too big for a name. Looked down and knew that once this threshold was crossed, there was no going back.

For me, this series gives shape to unnamed terrain. Talking about the kind of change that once it happens, is irreversible and a new identity is born. 

Most of them arrive almost on their own, in urgency and surrender. Others arrived through friction—a back-and-forth between what I expected to find and what insisted on revealing itself. Wings, mirrored forms, explosive light, and anatomical echoes emerge again and again, marking thresholds of becoming.

"Thresholds" is a collection that I started in 2019 and continue to add to. New works are on the horizon.
