The Story Behind The Art
I paint as an exploration between worlds of physical realities, and what is underneath those realities. I’m fascinated by the spaces between things — between human and animal, matter and spirit, reality and memory, things said and then left unsaid. My paintings are an attempt to understand those liminal moments, when something is both here and at the same time, becoming something else. The Horse and the Self series carries embodiment as physical form (the horse), while the Thresholds Collection loses the physical form and becomes more like a subconscious event.
What Makes These Paintings Special?
I don't know that some art is more special than other art, so all I can say is that what I offer is an experience—a way for viewers to see and feel both tangible reality, and also the invisible beauty that exists subconsciously. These two components not only create the self and the other, but almost by exclusion they also give birth to the moment and the threshold. My work engages both the eye and the mind in a way that’s rare, intentional, and personal to every one of us.
Who Are We Trying To Reach?
My ideal client enjoys the beauty of realistic/figurative elements (The Self and the Horse), but also values abstraction, liminality, and conceptual, spiritual depth (Thresholds). They are comfortable holding multiple interpretations at once and are intrigued by the space between what is seen and what is felt.
